作为当今世上极少数不看世界杯的男人之一，要证明saya pun lelaki，有一点挑战性。在非常(即不正常)国家，非常时期，我决定用非常手段：看一套用世界杯为主题的电影！今后有人问我有没有看世界杯，我可以理直气壮，不妄语地说：有！讲正经的：有Clint Eastwood掌机导演, Morgan Freeman 和 Matt Damon 主演，这样的戏我那里肯错过？总之Invictus 是非看不可，无关世界杯。影片讲的是南非1995年的橄榄球世界杯为背景，南非前总统 Nelson Mandela 的故事。
南非占人口80%的黑人，二十世纪时在占10%的白人的统治下，种族隔离(Apartheid)政策下，被剥削权力，财富和尊严。Nelson Mandela 1950年代开始领导人权运动，起初用非暴力理念，被捕入狱。后来打游击战，又被捕入狱。所以，面对野蛮的强权，左右都要入狱的；有没有开口咬人，从来不是问题。官字两个口，品字三个口，无品官加起来就不少过五个口！谁够他讲？Nelson Mandela从1962年被逮捕，在监狱中关了27年。1990年出狱，1994年当选总统，面对的是濒临内战边缘的南非。Nelson Mandela没有理所当然地推行“新南非经济政策”，让80%黑人掌握40%经济！这就是伟人和庸人的分别。这就是为什么坐牢27年的Nelson Mandela可以拿诺贝尔和平奖，而一些做首相不少过20年退位后依然喋喋不休者只能望和平奖垂涎三尺的原因。
1994年当选总统的Nelson Mandela，放弃报复的观念，拿政治前途冒险支持白人为主的橄榄球国家队。说：“如果我本人不能改变，就不能够要求别人改变！”他的得力助手说：“你把政治资本都押上了，你把当国家未来领袖的前途拿来冒险！”他答：“当我怯懦，不敢如此的那一天，就是我不该领导的那一天！”如果我们拿这个标准来要求我们的国家领导，大概只能要求他们集体自杀了。
片中最难忘的是这句：“Forgiveness liberates the soul. It removes fear. That is why it is such a powerful weapon.” 我尝试翻译：宽恕释放你那受禁锢的心灵，祛除深刻的恐惧，是以无敌！
片名 Invictus，拉丁语，无敌不败的意思，是英国诗人 William Ernest Henley (1849–1903)的一首短诗，全文如下：
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
